Technical Insights, Research Highlights, and Strong On-Site Presence in Berlin

From May 26 to 28, SONOTEC GmbH participated in the DGZfP Annual Meeting 2025 in Berlin – the most important industry gathering for professionals in non-destructive testing (NDT) in the German-speaking region. With more than 600 participants, numerous technical presentations, a poster exhibition, and discussion forums, the event provided the perfect platform for exchanging ideas on the latest developments, technologies, and trends in NDT.

This year, Andreas Mück and Andreas Ogrzewalla, both Business Unit Directors for Ultrasonic Transducers at SONOTEC, represented the company on site. They engaged in expert discussions and networked with customers and industry professionals about current challenges and solution approaches in ultrasonic testing.

Poster Presentation on the Characterization of Ultrasonic Probes

A highlight was the poster presentation by Andreas Mück, titled “Characterization of Ultrasonic Probes.” He presented the topic during the brand-new Poster Slam format, condensing key findings into a concise and compelling two-minute pitch. Later, at the poster evening, the research was further discussed in-depth with attendees. The poster focused on precise measurement and comparison of probe parameters – a crucial basis for reliable inspection results.

The poster was developed in close collaboration with SONOTEC’s R&D team. A special mention goes to Toni Maria Das, who played a major role in the project and contributed his expertise in measurement technology. For Toni, being listed as co-author and presenting at the DGZfP Annual Meeting marked an important milestone: his first opportunity to engage with fellow experts on his own research topic in a professional setting.

Air-Coupled Ultrasound in Focus

Martin Fuchs, long-time SONOTEC employee and deputy chair of the DGZfP Subcommittee on Air-Coupled Ultrasonic Testing, also played a key role at the conference. On May 26, he chaired the session “Air-Coupled Ultrasound”, which drew strong interest from those working on contactless testing methods – a growing area in the NDT field.
