Phased Array in Focus – Exchange at the DGZfP

On September 25, Andreas Mück, Head of our Business Unit Ultrasonic Transducers and Chairman of the Phased Array Subcommittee, took part in the 29th meeting of the DGZfP Phased Array Subcommittee in Gladbeck.

The subcommittee engaged in intensive discussions about its mission to provide neutral support for users, actively contribute to standardization and training, and foster collaboration with other committees. Activities were agreed upon accordingly.

An exciting project is on the horizon: comparative measurements on various test specimens with different devices. This will make the range of possibilities offered by different array devices more tangible for users. The results are planned to be presented to a broad professional audience – practical and transparent.

In connection with the main article in the April issue of the zfp-Magazin, the group discussed the extent to which conventional testing tasks can be carried out using array systems. We agreed that the use of array technology offers significant advantages. Therefore, a recommendation will be developed on how users can benefit from these advantages while still meeting the quality requirements of existing standards.

Such initiatives are crucial to further developing the application of phased array technology and shaping the future of non-destructive testing with ultrasound.

A heartfelt thank you to Beate Balcewicz and Stefan Medenbach from Müller & Medenbach GmbH for their hospitality and the excellent organization of the meeting!
