SONOTEC at the 20th Pipeline Technology Conference 2025: Innovations in Ultrasonic Testing and a Forward-Thinking Collaboration with NDT Global

From May 6 to 8, 2025, the anniversary edition of the Pipeline Technology Conference (PTC) took place in Berlin. For the 20th time, leading companies, experts, and decision-makers from the pipeline industry gathered to discuss current developments, challenges, and innovations. SONOTEC once again participated as an exhibitor – with its own booth (J9) and a joint technical presentation with long-standing partner NDT Global.

Spotlight on Future-Driven Ultrasonic Testing

At our booth, we showcased several new solutions in the field of non-destructive testing (NDT) using ultrasound. A particular highlight was a brand-new demonstration model for ultrasonic pipeline inspection, featured in live demonstrations. The SONASCREEN, our acoustic camera for quick and intuitive leak detection, also attracted significant interest.

Our experts Andreas Ogrzewalla, Andreas Mück, and Kevin Chang engaged in numerous discussions with industry professionals and provided insights into the latest developments in ultrasonic transducers – specifically engineered for precise crack and corrosion detection in demanding pipeline applications.

 

Technical Presentation with NDT Global: Ultrasonic Inspection for Ammonia Pipelines

A key highlight was the joint presentation by Andreas Mück (SONOTEC) and Thomas Hennig (NDT Global). Under the title “Development of ILI Tool and Specifically Robust Ultrasonic Probes for the Assessment of Crack Type Anomalies in Ammonia Carrying Pipelines,” they presented a collaborative development project focused on inline inspection of ammonia pipelines – a growing safety concern in modern infrastructure.

The presentation emphasized:

  • The development of specially robust ultrasonic transducers
  • Reliable detection of crack-type anomalies
  • Practical implementation in complex pipeline environments

The lively discussion following the talk highlighted the relevance of the topic and the innovative strength of the solution presented.

Steffi Lorenz has been working as a Marketing Manager at SONOTEC GmbH in Halle (Saale) since 2022, where she is responsible for technical B2B marketing within the Ultrasound Transducer business unit. In this role, she develops and coordinates marketing and communication activities for innovative ultrasound solutions – ranging from content and product marketing to campaign planning and close collaboration with sales and product management.

With many years of experience in B2B marketing and strategic communication of technical products, she is skilled at translating complex topics into clear and audience-focused messaging.
