International Expertise Meets Simulation: SONOTEC at the CIVA Users Community Event in Paris!

Last week, our colleague Johannes visited Paris to attend the CIVA Users Community Event, organized by EXTENDE. For two days, everything revolved around simulation in non-destructive testing. The event brought together around 80 experts from all over the world to exchange insights on the possibilities of the CIVA software.

CIVA is a comprehensive simulation software for various NDT techniques, including ultrasound, eddy current, and radiography. Developed by CEA LIST in collaboration with partners, CIVA has been continuously improved since the early 1990s and is distributed worldwide by EXTENDE. The software enables efficient simulation and analysis of inspection methods, leading to more precise and reliable testing.

Event Highlights:

  • Presentation of CIVA 2025 – the latest version of the simulation platform
  • Workshops & discussions with the EXTENDE team
  • Insights into simulations of effects within ultrasonic probes – a topic especially relevant to our work at SONOTEC
  • Case studies from industries such as aerospace, shipbuilding, and research

Simulation plays a central role in the development of our ultrasonic testing probes. It helps us better understand physical phenomena, evaluate concepts early on, and continuously improve quality.

The international exchange with professionals from industry and research was particularly valuable for Johannes – and we’re excited to bring the insights back to the team.

Marketing Manager Ultrasonic Transducers

Steffi Lorenz has been working as a Marketing Manager at SONOTEC GmbH in Halle (Saale) since 2022, where she is responsible for technical B2B marketing within the Ultrasound Transducer business unit. In this role, she develops and coordinates marketing and communication activities for innovative ultrasound solutions – ranging from content and product marketing to campaign planning and close collaboration with sales and product management.

With many years of experience in B2B marketing and strategic communication of technical products, she is skilled at translating complex topics into clear and audience-focused messaging.
