Innovative Ultrasonic Testing for the Construction Industry

Events Air-Coupled Ultrasound

Our technology partner, the Forschungszentrum Ultraschall (FZ-U), presented exciting new approaches at ICCX Central Europe 2025 in Warsaw!

Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Steinhausen gave a technical presentation on air-coupled ultrasonic testing – a contactless, non-destructive, and radiation-free method with great potential for the construction industry.

Why is this relevant?

  • Concrete & ceramics vary greatly depending on their intended use – quality control is essential!
  • New materials, such as carbon fiber-reinforced concrete, require innovative testing methods.
  • Air-coupled ultrasound enables the detection of cavities, pores & foreign objects.
  • The concrete cover over reinforcement can be precisely determined – even with one-sided access.
  • The method also allows direct measurement of sound velocity, providing insights into material density.

ICCX Central Europe is a leading specialist conference for the concrete and precast industry in Central Europe. It provides a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience, as well as for showcasing the latest technologies and developments in the sector. The event took place on February 12-13, 2025, in Warsaw and attracted numerous experts and professionals from across the region.

A major step forward for non-destructive testing in the construction industry!
