On November 29, 2024, the Air-Coupled Ultrasonic Testing (UA ACUT) subcommittee of DGZfP met at the BUTTING Academy in Knesebeck. SONOTEC was represented by our colleague Martin Fuchs.
Insights into the World of Pipes:
The day kicked off with an impressive tour of BUTTING‘s facilities. From delicate stainless steel pipes for the medical sector to massive pipeline pipes, everything was on display. For those of us deeply involved in pipeline testing, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the production chain was truly fascinating.
Constructive Meeting – The agenda was packed:
- Standards Draft: Current status and next steps
- US 08 Guideline: Submission and discussion
- Future Goals: Planning a potential equipment standard
The importance of a guideline for air-coupled ultrasonic testing was particularly emphasized. The discussions were intense but highly productive.
Culinary Highlight:
The catering at the BUTTING Academy was outstanding – everything was spot on! And the factory tour was definitely another highlight.
